Mouvex SLS36 Pump Repair for Histon Sweet Spreads HISTON SWEET SPREADS LIMITED experienced an issue during their jam and marmalade production when a metallic foreign object entered their Mouvex, a PSG brand SLS36 pump. The object became lodged between the disc and cylinder, causing significant damage. The force exerted by the motor bent the wing of the disc and stretched the double wall bellows. As a result, the disc and cylinder lost contact, preventing the pump from functioning properly and causing a knocking noise during operation. To resolve the issue, we conducted a full strip-down of the pump. We replaced the damaged bellows, transmission block, piston, and cylinder. After a comprehensive service and testing, the pump was returned to our customer in full working order, ensuring their production process could resume smoothly. This swift intervention minimised downtime, allowing Histon Sweet Spreads to get back to business as usual, creating the sweet delights we all know and love! How does the Alfa Laval OS Twin Screw Pump work? The Alfa Laval OS twin screw pump operates based on the principle of intermeshing twin screws to move fluids through the pump chamber. Here's a breakdown of how the Alfa Laval OS twin screw pump works: Twin Screw Design: The pump consists of two intermeshing screws, usually with a unique helical profile, rotating inside a tightly sealed pump chamber. These screws have opposing threads that create cavities or "pockets" between them as they rotate. Fluid Entry: The fluid enters the pump through the inlet port located at one end of the pump chamber. As the screws rotate, they create a continuous suction effect, drawing the fluid into the cavities between the screws. Fluid Conveyance: As the screws continue to rotate, the fluid trapped in the cavities moves axially along the length of the screws. The helical profiles of the screws push the fluid towards the outlet port at the opposite end of the pump chamber.
