Our Servicing & Maintenance Team were recently called out on an emergency basis, responding and attending within 24 hours to support a customer facing a critical issue with an Alfa Laval Heat Exchanger.
The reported problem? Suspected water ingress on the P.E.G. side – possibly due to a cracked plate or damaged gasket.
But once on-site, our engineer quickly identified a more serious concern. 👀
🔧 The plate pack had been incorrectly assembled, and once the unit was opened, it was clear that a mistake had been made during the initial plate hanging. Rather than applying a quick fix, our team proactively decided to carry out a complete strip-down and rebuild of the plate pack.
🛠️ With a full inspection of every plate and gasket, we ensured the unit was rebuilt to spec – providing on-site support to Alfa Laval and working alongside them throughout the process to deliver a fast, effective resolution for the customer.
🧪 A pressure test post-rebuild showed the unit holding strong at 2.45 – 3.6 BAR on the water side – a job done right, under pressure.
