Meet Our Team – Tamsin Smith – Regional Sales Manager
Tamsin has an extensive career spanning over two decades in the fluid handling equipment industry, marked by her tenure at notable companies such as Flowserve (10 years), KSB (3.5 years), and Musk (4.5 years). Her foundation in mechanical engineering was solidified through an apprenticeship at the Flowserve Newark Factory, historically known as Worthington Simpson. There, she gained hands-on experience across various departments including the pattern shop, foundry, design office, machine shop, and test house, making it an exemplary environment for her professional development. 👷♀️
Tamsin holds an ONC in Mechanical Engineering and has applied her expertise across a range of industries such as Food & Beverage, Chemical, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, and General Industry. Her role has often involved providing technical solutions and managing full turnkey process projects, showcasing her ability to navigate complex engineering challenges and deliver effective outcomes. 🔧
Beyond her professional life, Tamsin has a diverse array of interests that keep her energised and engaged. A dedicated weightlifter, she frequents the gym and enjoys exploring unusual foods, collecting semi-precious stones, old coins, and anything shiny. Her love for humour, animals, and movies adds a vibrant dimension to her personality. 🐕 🎬 🏋♀️
Tamsin’s personal life is centred around her partner Steve, who she lovingly refers to as the love of her life, and their cherished dog, Lily. Raised in Newark, with a brief origin story in Coventry, Tamsin comes from a culturally rich background with a British father and a Singaporean mother. This unique heritage, combined with a tomboyish childhood filled with LEGO constructions and a penchant for dismantling objects to understand their mechanics, subtly hinted at her future in engineering. Despite initially aspiring to follow in her mother’s footsteps in the medical field, Tamsin’s path veered towards engineering, a choice that harmonised her innate curiosity and mechanical inclination, undoubtedly influenced by her father’s profession. 😍 🏗
